Sidewalk Not Shoveled Ordinance
ARTICLE IV. - SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL
Sec. 26-111. - Removal of snow from sidewalks. The occupant, and if there is no occupant, the owner or agent of the owner of any premises abutting upon any street or public place in the town where there is a sidewalk shall cause all snow to be removed from such sidewalk within 24 hours after the storm event and/or precipitation ceases. Sec. 26-112. - Removing or sanding ice and sleet on sidewalks by occupant or owner. Whenever any sidewalk as mentioned in section 26-111 or any part thereof is covered with ice, the occupant, and if there is no occupant, the owner or agent of the owner of any such premises shall, within the 24-hour time period after the storm event and/or precipitation ceases, during the daytime, cause such sidewalk to be made safe and convenient by removing the ice therefrom or by covering the ice with sand or some other substance and renewing such application as often as may be necessary to keep such sidewalk safe and convenient.
